Cabarrus Rowan Community Health Centers: Healthcare for All — Regardless of Insurance

There is a gap in American healthcare that most people only discover when they are already in crisis: they make too much to qualify for Medicaid but too little to afford private insurance premiums, copays, and specialist bills. In Cabarrus and Rowan counties, Cabarrus Rowan Community Health Centers — known as CRCHC — exists specifically to close that gap. As a Federally Qualified Health Center, CRCHC is required by federal mandate to see patients regardless of their ability to pay, operating on a sliding fee scale that adjusts to income. No insurance? You can still be seen. Underinsured? The cost adjusts. The door is open.

CRCHC's mission is direct: "to positively impact the health of our community, one patient at a time." What makes that mission real is the scope behind it. CRCHC operates across an unusually wide network for a community health organization — McGill Family Medicine, Sugar Creek Health Center, McGill Urgent Care Clinic, China Grove Family Medicine, Logan Family Medicine, Northern Rowan Family Medicine, Salisbury Health Center, Patterson Farm Migrant Clinic, a Homeless Clinic, mobile health units, and a site at the Salvation Army of Concord. Each location is designed to bring primary care within reach of the communities that need it most, including farm workers, individuals experiencing homelessness, and families in neighborhoods without nearby hospital access.

What sets CRCHC apart from a typical doctor's office is their integrated care model. Rather than treating the body and the mind as separate concerns requiring separate referrals, CRCHC embeds behavioral health clinicians directly alongside primary care providers. A patient coming in for a routine physical can also receive screening and support for depression, anxiety, or substance use — in the same visit, from the same care team. Their own description: "The best approach to wellness involves treating the mind and body." For the Cabarrus County families Solo Faith Church serves — many of whom have faced food insecurity, housing instability, and compounding stress — that philosophy is not just thoughtful healthcare; it is essential healthcare.

CRCHC is also growing. In recent months, the organization opened a new in-clinic pharmacy in partnership with TrueCare — bringing prescription access directly into the care setting, so patients leave an appointment with their medications in hand rather than navigating a separate pharmacy trip. CRCHC also announced a new partnership with Forsyth County, extending their reach beyond Cabarrus and Rowan into additional underserved communities across the region. These are not the moves of an organization that has settled. They are the moves of a health system actively working to meet people where they are.

How to Connect with CRCHC

To schedule an appointment at any CRCHC location, call 704-792-2242. You can also explore all locations and services at CRCHC's official website. For patients with after-hours questions for non-urgent concerns, CRCHC maintains after-hours support when the office is closed — a practical detail that matters when a child develops a fever on a Sunday night.

Families in the Concord area specifically can find the Sugar Creek Health Center and the McGill Family Medicine location closest to them by browsing the CRCHC locations page directly. CRCHC also accepts most major insurance plans, Medicaid, and Medicare in addition to serving uninsured patients on the sliding fee scale.

Solo Faith Church features Cabarrus Rowan Community Health Centers in our Solo Faith Directory because access to healthcare — real, affordable, walk-in-without-insurance healthcare — is not a luxury. It is a foundation. The same families we deliver groceries to on Monday mornings deserve to know that there is a place nearby where a doctor will see them, no matter what their insurance card says. CRCHC is that place for Cabarrus County.
