Marriage In The Bible

Marriage in the Bible

Marriage is a sacred vow between a man and woman to "become one flesh," as the Scripture says. God's view of marriage is the divine plan for sexual relationships to secure stable families and committed parents and spouses.

Let's look at a few of our favorite Bible verses about marriage and its importance as a covenant bond between a man and woman.

Most of these Bible verses focus on love and are an excellent way to express your feelings of love and commitment to your spouse. When you face moments of hurt and pain in all relationships, Scripture is also a good place to turn to. During a struggling marriage, it's easy to focus on what's wrong instead of stopping to listen to God and ask Him for guidance. If you seek God's healing for your marriage, these Bible verses can remind you of your love and purpose in your relationship. We've gathered Scriptures to help you express your desires, fears, and hopes concerning your marriage.

A Prayer for Marriage

Father, help me to be the [husband/wife] you have intended me to be. Show me where I need to improve. Help me to be a better communicator, help me to love my [husband/wife] better, and help us both to grow closer to You and to each other. In Your presence, we renew our wholehearted choice to love. Bless this holy commitment with courage, strength, tenacity—and, most of all, joy! With You, we can build a successful marriage. In Your name, Amen.

May your marriage be strengthened and filled with love as you seek God's purpose for your relationship! We also offer a deeper dive into what the Bible says about marriage.

Bible Verses about Marriage

Hebrews 13:4 - Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous.

Proverbs 18:22 - He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord.

Genesis 2:24 - Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 - Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

John 14:27 - Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."

Yes gods manual on a marriage that will be successful is amazing. He understands that marriage can have its ups and downs but he gives us his teaching on how to maintain 💗 love. Even when things go wrong. One thing I can say is I rather have a marriage based on the word that scared and traditional than whatever this world has to say on marriage.
