Youth Uplifting Day: A Community Celebration

Updated: 5 days ago

A Back-to-School Afternoon Built Around Kids

Youth Uplifting Day runs from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and is designed to help children and families head into the school year feeling supported and encouraged. The Big E Life Changers describes the day as a chance to empower young people and get everyone excited about what is ahead — a mix of practical help and plain fun. Providers will be on site throughout the afternoon, and families are invited to come together and stay a while.

What Families Will Find

The day pairs real resources with a festival feel. Planned giveaways and activities include:

  • Charlotte Hornets giveaways

  • Book bags filled with school supplies

  • Free tacos and icy treats

  • Free haircuts for boys

  • Free manicures for girls

  • Games, activities, and community resource tables

Book bags and school supplies are first come, first served, and spots are limited — so registering early matters.

More Than a Party: Support for the Whole Child

What sets Youth Uplifting Day apart is its attention to the harder parts of growing up. The event is built around breaking the stigma surrounding bullying, anxiety, stress, and depression, with providers offering education and support alongside the giveaways. For many Cabarrus County families, the start of a school year carries real pressure — new schedules, new social dynamics, and the cost of getting a child ready to learn. A free afternoon that treats a child's mental and emotional health as seriously as a full book bag meets a need that too often goes unspoken.

When, Where, and How to Register

Youth Uplifting Day takes place Saturday, July 25, 2026, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at R. Brown McAllister Elementary School, 505 Sunnyside Drive Southeast, Concord, NC 28025. Admission is free, and families are encouraged to sign up in advance because supplies are limited. You can reserve a spot on the Youth Uplifting Day registration page.

Youth Uplifting Day is organized by The Big E Life Changers, Inc., a nonprofit focused on empowering young people. You can learn more about their work and other community initiatives on their website, or go straight to the event registration to claim a spot.

Solo Faith Church: A Community Partner

At Solo Faith Church — a Concord congregation at 587 Old Charlotte Rd SW — sharing days like this is part of how we show up for our neighbors. We run a free food pantry and DoorDash delivery program at solofaith.org, and we are glad to help local families find the resources that make a new school year a little easier.

Our mission is rooted in our faith, and we believe in serving our community. We aim to uplift families and provide support in various ways. Our commitment to love our neighbors is reflected in our actions. We want to ensure that every child starts the school year with a full book bag and a lighter heart.

Questions Families Are Asking

How much does Youth Uplifting Day cost?

Nothing. Admission and all activities are free, including book bags, school supplies, food, haircuts, and manicures.

Do I need to register to attend?

Admission is free, but families are encouraged to register in advance because book bags and school supplies are first come, first served and spots are limited.

Who is the day for?

The whole family. The event is geared toward children and the parents and caregivers preparing them for the new school year across Concord and Cabarrus County.

Solo Faith Church shares this story because a child who starts the school year with a full book bag and a lighter heart is a child set up to thrive. Lifting up the families of Cabarrus County — and the neighbors working to serve them — is exactly the kind of community our congregation is called to help build.
