320 Doorsteps in Concord, Inside 150 Million Meals Nationwide

3 min read

On a delivery morning in Concord, a box of groceries lands on a porch. Nobody rings the bell twice. The person inside may not have left the house in a week, and may not have a car at all. That box is one of 320 that Solo Faith Church has sent out since May 23.

The Number That Arrived by Email

On September 1, at the start of Hunger Action Month, DoorDash announced that its Project DASH partners have delivered more than 150 million estimated meals. The program now works with more than 300 food banks, pantries, healthcare institutions, and other community organizations across the United States and Canada.

Millions of Americans go to bed hungry simply because they don't have the means to get to a meal.

That is Daniel Riff, who leads Food Access Strategy at DoorDash, in the announcement. More than 50 million people nationwide need food assistance. Project DASH began as a pandemic-era emergency measure and did not stay one — it is now standing infrastructure for food bank home delivery and for medically tailored grocery programs aimed at chronic conditions like diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and hypertension.

What 320 Looks Like From Here

Solo Faith Church is one of those 300-plus organizations. Since the first run on May 23, 2026, the church has completed 320 deliveries across 24 delivery days, reaching households in Concord, Kannapolis, and Mount Pleasant.

The pace is uneven on purpose. Some run days carry twenty-five boxes and some carry four. Deliveries go out when food is available and when households need them, not on a schedule built to look good in a report.

The reason the church delivers at all comes down to one thing: transportation. A pantry a family cannot reach is not a pantry for that family. Concord has pantries. What it has less of is a way to close the last two miles for someone without a car, without gas money, or without the physical ability to stand in a line.

Two Things Coming This Winter

DoorDash has told Project DASH partners it will waive delivery fees for partner organizations between November 16 and December 13, 2026. The operational details are expected from DoorDash in October, so the church cannot yet say how it will work day to day. What it does mean is that for roughly a month over the holidays, the same donated dollar reaches further.

Separately, DoorDash has opened a $150,000 fund called the Project DASH Food as Medicine Impact Grants, awarding up to $15,000 per organization toward home-delivery costs for programs that use nutrition to improve health outcomes. Solo Faith Church has applied. No decision has been made, and the church will report the outcome either way.

Neighbors who want the national picture can read DoorDash's full 150 million meal announcement, or follow the company's wider food access reporting at DoorDash. Solo Faith Church runs its pantry and delivery program out of 587 Old Charlotte Rd SW in Concord, and the ordering page lives at solofaith.org.

Solo Faith Church is publishing this because a milestone measured in the hundreds of millions can make one delivery feel small, and it is not. Three hundred and twenty times, a household near here got food it had no way to go out and get, and that is the only unit of measure this congregation is actually trying to grow.

Community Support Note: This post is part of Solo Faith Church's community journalism initiative. The national figures come from DoorDash's public announcement of September 1, 2026, and from a Project DASH partner email shared directly with the church. The local delivery count was compiled from Solo Faith Church's own dated delivery records covering May 23 through September 13, 2026.
