Queen City News Visits the Solo Faith Pantry in Concord

The Command Behind the Boxes

Jesus (Yeshua) gave his people a plain instruction: love your neighbor as yourself. At Solo Faith Church, that instruction has a delivery route. This week a Queen City News crew came to Concord to see what it looks like on an ordinary weekday — and what they filmed was our volunteers, our online pantry, and boxes of groceries landing on doorsteps that had no other way to reach food.

The segment was reported by John Le for the station's Faces of the Carolinas series. You can watch the full report on Queen City News.

What the Crew Saw

They found the pantry mid-shift. Volunteers were working through orders that neighbors across Cabarrus County had already placed online — people choosing their own groceries from our website rather than standing in a line for whatever happened to be in a pre-packed box. That difference matters more than it sounds. Choosing your own food is a small thing that restores a large amount of dignity.

One of our volunteers, Toni Logan, put the whole operating philosophy into a single sentence for the station: "I don't personally like to see nobody hungry."

Several of the people packing those orders have received food from this pantry themselves. They came back to serve on the other side of the table. That is not a detail we staged for a camera — it is how most of this ministry gets staffed.

How a Box Actually Gets to a Door

A neighbor places an order through our online pantry. From there the process is automated: our AI system reads the incoming orders, builds the delivery manifest, and hands it off to DoorDash. Speaking to Queen City News, Pastor Doug Lattimore described it plainly — Claude AI processes the orders and creates the spreadsheet that gets uploaded to DoorDash.

The runs go out through DoorDash's Project DASH, which works with nonprofits to reach households that cannot get to a pantry — for us, that means seniors, veterans, and neighbors living with disabilities. The household is charged nothing. Solo Faith pays a subsidized rate of $5 per delivery, a figure confirmed in the Queen City News report. If you want the longer version of how the program works, we wrote about DoorDash Project DASH and how Solo Faith uses it earlier this year.

The technology is real and we talk about it openly, but it is not the point. Automation is what lets a small team in one building on 587 Old Charlotte Rd SW, Concord, NC 28027 reach homes all over the county in a single afternoon. The love came first. The software just carries more of it.

The Part That Doesn't Fit in a Two-Minute Segment

Queen City News reported that Solo Faith serves about 160 people a month, and that demand for home delivery keeps climbing. That number is the encouraging part and the hard part at the same time. Every delivery we add is a cost we absorb, and right now that cost is carried by a very small church and the people who give to it.

"We're looking for donors. We're looking for people who care enough to see work like this continue." — Pastor Doug Lattimore, speaking to Queen City News

That is the honest ask. We are looking for a corporate sponsor to help cover delivery costs so the program can grow instead of ration. Until then, every individual gift keeps the routes running.

See the Deliveries for Yourself

Below is our own footage of a delivery run in Concord — the same work the news crew came to film. For the broadcast version, watch the Queen City News segment here.

Sponsor a Delivery in Concord

At Solo Faith Church, $10 delivers food to one household facing a transportation barrier. No cost to the family, no paperwork, no judgment — just groceries on a porch that could not be reached any other way. If you are a business looking for a local cause with a measurable outcome, this is one. Sponsor a delivery here.

If you are the one who needs food, that door works both ways. Order from our free online food pantry, and if you cannot get to us, we will come to you. Services are Saturday and Sunday at 1:00 PM, in person and livestreamed. Come as you are.

About this post: Solo Faith Church is the subject of this coverage, not its author. It was wonderful to appear in the story. I'm so grateful for the opportunity to show how much the food delivery service is needed especially for the disabled.
