*Note From Pastor Doug: "As I have been pastoring in Concord NC, I have noticed that this community is one of the best I have ever been a part of. I had no idea that God would plant me (and our church, solo faith church) in the best community of my life. I thought we just needed a building, I thought that we just needed a place to worship. I had no clue what was in store. This is just another example of the treasures that I have found in Concord NC. The Cabarrus Health Alliance (CHA) is an organization that I plan to work with closely over the course of my pastoralship here. And like everything else in this city. It's the people that make everything work. Right now, the relationship that I have with Dr. Alicia Primus is one of a kind. She is helping spread the word about our online food pantry. But what CHA brings to the table for this community should also definitely be inspected as well. They have something resourceful for everyone in the city of Concord and Kannapolis." - Pastor Doug
For more than twenty-five years, Cabarrus Health Alliance has been the public health backbone of Cabarrus County. It was created by the County Board of Commissioners on July 1, 1997, when the former Cabarrus County Health Department was reorganized into a public health authority. Today it serves as a single front door for everything from childhood immunizations and dental care to nutrition support for new mothers. For families in Concord and across the county, it is often the place where good health quietly begins.

What Cabarrus Health Alliance Actually Does
The Alliance carries a broad mandate, and its services reflect the real range of what a community needs to stay well. Through its clinical services it offers immunizations, family planning, women's health and maternity care, breast health, and international travel health. Its dental clinic serves residents who might otherwise go without routine care. The Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program provides nutrition guidance and food support for pregnant women, new mothers, and young children, and the Alliance even runs free cooking classes to help families turn that support into healthy meals at home. Behavioral health, school health, communicable disease control, and environmental health round out a portfolio that touches nearly every household in the county at one point or another.
A Mission Measured in Neighbors, Not Numbers
The Alliance describes its mission simply: to improve individual and community health through services, education, and collaborative action. That collaborative spirit shows up in its governance. A nine-member board brings together county commissioners, Atrium Health–Cabarrus physicians, and community representatives, so that decisions about local health are made by local people. In 2025 the Alliance published a new Community Health Assessment, a county-wide study of where residents are thriving and where gaps remain. It is the kind of patient, unglamorous work that rarely makes headlines but quietly shapes how a community cares for its most vulnerable.
That work has also earned outside recognition. Cabarrus Health Alliance holds national accreditation from the Public Health Accreditation Board through 2027, a standard met by only a portion of local health departments nationwide and a signal that the Alliance measures itself against rigorous benchmarks rather than its own expectations.
Where to Find Them
The Alliance's main campus is located at 300 Mooresville Road in Kannapolis, and it can be reached at 704-920-1000. Environmental Health services recently moved to the Brown Mill location at 526 Cabarrus Avenue West in Concord, making inspections and permits easier to reach for residents on the Concord side of the county. You can review their full list of public health services on the Cabarrus Health Alliance website before your visit.
At Solo Faith Church, located at 587 Old Charlotte Rd SW in Concord, we pay close attention to the organizations that help our neighbors stay healthy, because health and dignity are deeply connected. You can learn more about our own food pantry and free delivery work at solofaith.org.
Questions Neighbors Often Ask
Do I need insurance to be seen at Cabarrus Health Alliance?
Many of the Alliance's public health services are available to residents regardless of insurance status, and some programs are grant-funded or use a sliding scale. The best first step is to call 704-920-1000 and ask about the specific service you need.
What is WIC, and who qualifies?
WIC — Women, Infants, and Children — is a nutrition program that provides healthy food support, breastfeeding guidance, and counseling for pregnant women, new mothers, and children under five. Eligibility is based on income and a simple health screening, and the Alliance's WIC office can walk you through it.
Where do I go for environmental health permits in Concord?
Environmental Health services, including septic, well, and food establishment inspections, are now handled at the Brown Mill location at 526 Cabarrus Avenue West in Concord.
